Common questions about scam calls

How do I recognise a scam call?

Pressure, urgency, and requests for money, codes, or remote access are red flags. Unknown international or premium-rate numbers (0900, 0137) often cost a lot. When in doubt: hang up and check the number here.

What is a premium-rate number?

Numbers like 0900, 0137, or 0180 are billed - sometimes several euros a minute. A missed call that begs for a call-back ("ping call") is engineered to trigger exactly that.

The number called me - what should I do?

Don't call back before checking it. If it is reported as a scam, block it and report it to your telecom regulator. You can also report it in the community directory here.
